One export, from the system you already run.
Every system below exports a menu-item sales report natively. The report needs one row per dish with the dish name, how many sold, and the sales total — a food-cost column if your system tracks it. Set the date range to the last 90 days, export CSV or Excel, and upload it. That is the entire setup.
If your POS can export a sales report, you can have this by tomorrow.
| Column | Typical header names we recognise |
|---|---|
| Dish name | item, name, dish, menu item |
| Units sold | units, qty, quantity sold, items sold |
| Sales total | revenue, sales, gross, net sales, amount |
| Food cost (optional) | food cost, cost, plate cost |
Missing a column? The upload check tells you plainly which one and shows what the export should look like.
Toast
Reports → Sales → Menu item sales → set date range → Export CSV
In Toast Web, open Reports, choose Sales, then the menu-item or item-sales report. Set a custom 90-day range, group by item (not by category or by day), and export CSV.
What the file contains: one row per menu item with units sold and gross sales for the period. Toast does not attach plate costs, so if you want margins rather than revenue-only analysis, fill the one-page cost sheet we send for your top 20 items — four to eight hours of work, once.
Square for Restaurants
Dashboard → Reports → Item sales → date range → Export
From the Square Dashboard (not the point-of-sale app), open Reports, then Item sales. Set the 90-day range, make sure the report is by item, and export the CSV.
What the file contains: item name, quantity sold, gross and net sales per item. Square tracks item-level cost only if you entered it per item — if the cost column is there, include it; if not, the top-20 cost sheet covers it.
Lightspeed
Back Office → Reports → Product / item mix report → date range → Export CSV
In the Lightspeed back office, open Reports and choose the product mix or item sales report. Set the 90-day period and export as CSV.
What the file contains: product name, quantity sold and sales total per item. Lightspeed K-Series and Restaurant both expose per-item cost where it has been entered on the product; include the column when present.
Aloha
Back office → Sales → Menu item sales (sales mix) → date range → Export
Aloha's sales-mix-by-item report lives in the back-office reporting tool. Run the menu item sales report over the 90-day window and export to CSV or Excel.
What the file contains: item name, count sold and net or gross sales. Aloha estates vary by version, so if your report groups by category by default, switch the grouping to item before exporting.
Lavu
Control Panel → Reports → Item Sales Report → date range → Export / download CSV
In the Lavu control panel, open Reports and run the Item Sales Report for the 90-day range. Download the CSV.
What the file contains: item name, quantity sold and total sales. If your Lavu setup tracks item cost, the export can include it — include it when it does.
Clover
Dashboard → Reporting → Orders / items report → filter by item → date range → Export
From the Clover web dashboard, open Reporting, run the items report, filter or group by item, set the 90-day range and export the CSV.
What the file contains: item name, quantity and sales amount per item. Clover's stock item cost is optional per item; where it is filled in, keep the column in the export.
Your POS is not listed
The analysis does not care which system produced the file. Any export with one row per dish — name, units sold, sales total — works, from any POS, a spreadsheet you keep by hand, or a accounting export. Choose "Other" on the request form and upload what you have; if a needed column is missing, the upload check tells you which one and shows a three-row example of what the file should look like.
